I’m going to be very candid with you.

I didn’t want to send this email.

In my ideal world, I wouldn’t have to send fundraising emails at all.

I would much rather be talking to you about the issues of the day: Our continued fight for action on climate, my work supporting teachers and school workers, and blocking Trump’s attacks on the working class and our democracy, to name a few.

But would it surprise you if I told you that of all of the money our campaign raised in 2024, almost half of it was donated through emails like these?

That’s because this isn’t some corporate-backed campaign where mega-donors drive our strategy. This is a grassroots movement of thousands of people who fund our campaign with small donations of $15 or $20 at a time.

So when I send you these fundraising emails, just know it’s not because I want to, but because I have to if I want to run a campaign that can actually beat the far-right and their multi-million dollar warchest.
