Hi John,

Last week during the House Judiciary Committee meeting on police reform Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-D) asked Matt Gaetz if he would say Black lives matter. Gaetz not only refused but responded by saying that “all lives matter.”

Is this what Gaetz thinks qualifies as leadership? Trolling one’s colleagues during a serious discussion about one of our nation’s most defining cultural, social, and economic issues?

Rep. Swalwell was attempting to have a legitimate dialogue about the unequal and dangerous experience so many Black Americans have with law enforcement and the justice system — in which they are regularly treated as if their lives don’t matter.

But Matt Gaetz could not care less about addressing the unequal treatment of Black Americans that plague our country. Gaetz is only interested in sowing division and creating chaos.
