Trump wants Texas to redraw its congressional map to pick up more GOP seats. Here's what to know.

According to this CBS News article, the Texas Legislature is convening a special session to redraw their congressional map and – you guessed it – to boost the Trump regime’s power.

In the lead up to this, Trump’s Justice Department sent a letter to Governor Abbott of Texas alleging that some of the districts were racially gerrymandered and created coalition districts or a voting district where multiple racial or ethnic minority groups combine to form a majority of the population.

What Trump’s regime meant was: these three districts are controlled by Democrats in primarily racially diverse areas.

This is just another example of how Trump is actively working to undermine the rights and freedoms of communities of color.

If this were to go to court, it could end up at Texas’s State Supreme Court, which is controlled by nine GOP justices.

This is a perfect example of why the PA’s Supreme Court retention elections in November are so important. Courts matter, and if we want to ensure our fairly drawn Congressional districts are safe from the powerful hands of Trump, we need to fight back.
