Hi all,

We need to turn in signatures for our Tempe parks campaign on Friday, August 1. That means tomorrow (Sunday, 7/27) is the LAST weekend day to canvass!

We've made a lot of progress, but it's going to be close. We need a ton of people to come out tomorrow and over the next few days -- otherwise, we may not hit the numbers we need to make the ballot.

Can you join us tomorrow? Come to our canvass launch at 8 am at Parque de Soza in Tempe, or stop by Brick Road Coffee on Rural Road any time between 10 am and 5 pm and we'll get you set up to collect signatures.

Reply with any questions. Let's make it happen!

In solidarity,

Phoenix Metro DSA

Hi all,

In the early hours of the morning on Wednesday, July 2, the Tempe City Council chose to approve a new ordinance placing significant restrictions on public gatherings of 30 people or more. This incredibly disappointing vote came despite hours of testimony against the proposed ordinance from more than 70 people, including many Tempe residents and DSA members.

The ordinance is part of a broader crackdown on anyone trying to provide support to our unhoused neighbors. In February, our chapter's own Really Really Free Market, which had been running without issue for years, was shut down by the cops. The same thing has happened to many other community and mutual aid groups all over Tempe.

Our chapter is now in the midst of a major effort to collect 3,000+ signatures before August 1 to refer the proposed ordinance to the ballot and block it from going into effect until voters have a say. And we need your help!

Can you join us for a canvass this weekend?

WHAT: Canvass to gather signatures to keep our Tempe parks public
WHERE: Meyer Park (2727 S Dorsey Lane)

>> RSVP here if you can join us on Saturday.

>> RSVP here if you can join us on Sunday.

Phoenix DSA

PS: Can't make it those times, but still want to help? Come by Brick Road Coffee or Changing Hands Tempe on Saturday or Sunday between 10 am and 5 pm to sign the petition, grab a petition sheet to circulate yourself, or generally plug into the campaign!
