Last night, Jay Inslee announced that he is ending his candidacy for president. I’m grateful to him for advancing the conversation about climate change -- our country is better for it.
We need to make sure that we tackle climate change with the urgency it demands. Climate change and environmental justice have been central issues to my campaign from the start, and I am proud to be recognized as one of the top-rated candidates by Greenpeace because of it.
I’m committed to taking bold action to address the existential threat of climate change. Add your name to stand with me in this fight.
Big solutions are needed to put our planet on the pathway to a more sustainable future. For example, in the Senate, I introduced a bill called the Climate Stewardship Act that would:
-
Reduce or offset one-third of emissions from the agriculture sector
-
Plant over 15 billion trees
-
Invest in renewable energy for farmers
-
Restore and protect over 2 million acres of coastal wetlands
-
Create hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs
Inspired by the New Deal, this proposal would dramatically step up the federal government’s role in dealing with the existential threat of climate change.
We can’t wait a single minute longer for serious climate action. If you agree that our planet is worth saving, sign our petition.
As Republicans in Congress and the White House continue to deny the basic science behind climate change, I’m committed to finding real solutions that will address our planet’s most pressing challenge.
