John,
Unlike a lot of candidates for Congress, I have not had anything in my life handed to me.
After my dad died from cancer, I grew up in a single parent household, with my mom being the sole breadwinner.
I worked my way through high school, college, and law school doing anything I could to get by – from cleaning tanning beds to working night shifts at hotels. I started my successful small business with $60 in the bank during the Great Recession and found my first client off of Craigslist.
My story is far from unique. The cost of living has skyrocketed, especially in Southern California, and young people and working families are being set up to fail. At a recent event, I spoke with someone who is a mother, veteran, and a public school employee, and is still unable to keep her head above water in our area.
People who have done everything right are struggling and scared. That is not right.
That is why we need folks like me in Congress. I don’t come from a wealthy family or have lots of millionaire friends. I know what it is like to have crushing student loan debt – I still have it! -- and come of age during a time of economic instability.
Meanwhile, my opponent Young Kim is in Congress for herself. She would rather turn her back on our communities than stand up to the MAGA agenda, all for a corporate PAC check. It is wrong, and I am running to fire her and be a real voice for CA-40.
I cannot afford to self-fund my campaign – this movement is built by folks like you chipping in a few dollars at a time. If you’re with me, will you chip in $3 ahead of our end-of-month deadline?
