John,
We want to have a deeper conversation with you about what it means for leaders to listen to and support the people they represent. We’d like for you to read this whole email, but if you don't have time, and already support our mission of electing common-sense, compassionate leaders, you can chip in right now.
Gov. Andy Beshear is once again calling out Donald Trump for his reckless and impulsive use of tariffs against our most prominent trading partners. That’s because these tariffs will have a devastating impact on Kentucky families, small businesses, and most important industries.
Kentucky exports under Andy’s leadership are at an all-time high – 2024 saw a 18.7% increase in exports from 2023. A whopping $47.7 billion worth of Kentucky products were sold to markets globally. This is money that goes directly back into our state’s economy, helping our businesses expand and creating jobs that support Kentucky families.
And the countries Trump is targeting with these tariffs? They are some of Kentucky’s most valued trading partners. There’s Canada, who buys nearly a quarter of our exports. There’s Japan, who is not only a trading partner but has also made long-term investments here, including the largest Toyota plant in the world in Georgetown, Kentucky. And there’s Mexico, who remains once again a top 5 trading partner with the Bluegrass State.
Unfortunately, Trump is continuously suggesting he will add even more tariffs on even more trading partners, and countries around the world are reacting by working to limit how much business they do with the United States. That means Kentucky businesses will lose one of their biggest markets for the foreseeable future, hurting our economy and even leading to job losses.
Trump won the state of Kentucky in the 2024 election by a whopping 30 points, in part by promising to address rising costs. But his tariff policy is having the exact opposite effect.
Andy believes that our elected officials—no matter their political party—should be working to help the people they represent, not hurt them.
That’s why In This Together PAC was formed: to take on elected officials who make empty promises on the campaign trail then turn around and do the opposite, and support good candidates and good people who will do the right thing for their constituents, regardless of politics.
But to get those leaders elected, we need your help.
If you agree with our mission to end self-serving politics, chip in anything you can today. Together, we can help Andy continue the fight to elect honest, common-sense leaders at every level who will move us forward, not drag us backward.
