John,
Yesterday, I joined Congressmen Joaquin Castro and Greg Casar, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, and State Representatives Gina Hinojosa and James Talarico in Austin to fight the Republican redistricting power grab.
I’ll share a full recap in the next few days, but I wanted to send a short note as soon as I could.
Republicans are attempting to rig the system in their favor by redrawing Texas’ congressional districts—years before the next census—in the hopes of flipping five Democratic-held seats from blue to red.
If we fail to defeat them in this, if we are unable to hold these seats and win a majority in the House, the consolidation of authoritarian power will be nearly unstoppable. More Americans whisked off the streets by masked, plainclothes agents without warrants or badges; more of Trump’s political opponents targeted for persecution and violence; and more likely that a corrupt, complicit congress rolls out the royal carpet for Trump’s third term.
We’re not going to let this happen. We’re showing up, organizing, and fighting this head-on—and we need your help to make sure we succeed.
Thank you,
Beto
