[ [link removed] ]Congress may be in recess, but gun violence isn't
Hi-
Congress may be heading into August recess—but that doesn't mean the
threat of gun lobby-backed legislation takes a break. In fact, this is one
of the most critical moments in our fight.
During recess, lawmakers are back in their states—and that means it's our
window to mobilize, meet with members of Congress, and remind them just
how dangerous this legislation is. Congress may be on break—but we aren't.
The stakes are too high.
The Concealed Carry Mandate is going to be a big priority once Congress is
back. If passed, it would force states to allow people with dangerous
histories to carry hidden, loaded firearms in public in states that
wouldn't otherwise let them—even if those states have stronger public
safety laws.
Make no mistake: This is one of the gun lobby's top priorities. And
defeating it is one of ours. But our work doesn't stop there. Everytown is
also pushing for life-saving legislation like secure firearm storage laws
and holding lawmakers accountable. [ [link removed] ]That's why Everytown must raise
$20,000 by July 31—to stay on the offense during recess and hit the ground
running when Congress returns. So, donate to the Everytown
for Gun Safety Action Fund today.

past, as well as advance federal legislation that saves lives, like secure
storage laws, we need your support.
