Improving Mail Delivery

This week, the House voted to pass H.R. 3095, legislation I helped lead. This bill updates and modernizes ZIP codes to reflect current municipal boundaries. For example, under the current USPS system, the Caledonia Village Hall does not have a mailing address in Caledonia - instead it is listed with a Racine mailing address.

ZIP code designations that do not reflect municipal boundaries can cause confusion for residents and carriers alike. This has resulted in misdirected mail, delays in emergency response times, higher insurance rates, issues with local tax collection, and more. These problems affect a number of communities in our area including Caledonia, Franklin, Mount Pleasant, Rochester, and Somers.

I am working to fix it.

On Tuesday, the House voted to pass H.R. 3095 to address this issue and align ZIP codes with municipal boundaries. If signed into law, this bill will have a meaningful impact on Wisconsin families. This bill now heads to the Senate for passage.

Discussing Actions in Congress

There has been a lot of activity in Congress over the past few weeks and a lot of people have questions about what is going on.

I recently joined WISN's UpFront to discuss my work in Washington and how some new changes that will have positive results for Wisconsin families and seniors. This includes:

Unleashing American Energy

This month, the House passed H.R. 1, transformative legislation that cuts taxes for working families, secures our border, invests in our armed services, lowers costs for families, and eliminates waste, fraud, and abuse in Medicaid.

This bill also addresses our energy needs.

Since 2022, energy prices have increased faster than the rate of inflation. This year, the U.S. Energy Information Administration predicts that energy prices will be roughly 13% higher than in 2022. This increase has had a real impact on family budgets.

I am working to unleash American energy and bring down energy costs for families.

We need an all-of-the-above strategy to meet our nation’s energy demands and lower costs for consumers. Costs for energy remain too high. I recently helped pass legislation that was singed into law to make several important changes.

First, the bill reinstates oil and gas lease sales, as well as coal leasing on federal lands. This will help increase domestic energy production. Increasing energy supply will help address rising consumer demand.

Second, the bill eliminates waste, fraud, and abuse in energy subsidies that were passed during the Biden administration, saving taxpayers over $550 billion. For example, the bill repeals the Electric Vehicle Tax Credit, a program that provided a $7,500 subsidy for the purchase of an electric vehicle.

These measures will help unleash American energy, strengthen our energy independence, support American workers, and provide reliable and affordable energy for years to come.
