Dear John,

Sea Shepherd is operating at a scale we've never reached before. From Antarctica to Mexico, across five ships and multiple campaigns, our teams are covering more ground and staying on the water longer in some of the ocean’s most contested waters.

This momentum is made possible by two forces: your continued support and our crews who leave their lives behind to work at sea for months at a time. Their dedication, resolve, and focus are a constant inspiration, turning strategy into real impact on the frontlines of ocean conservation.

In the Vaquita Refuge and at Scorpion Reef, years of collaboration with Mexican law enforcement agencies have become a powerful model for sustained enforcement, with Sea Shepherd providing ships, technology, and decades of frontline experience. Today, these vulnerable waters are now actively defended, with patrols in place and illegal activity facing real consequences. Hydrophones deployed from Seahorse have recently detected promising levels of vaquita activity in the northern zone – an encouraging sign.

In the Mediterranean, Sea Shepherd crews continue to pull thousands of illegal octopus traps from the sea. These are highly sentient and intelligent animals who deserve far more than to die slowly in the dark. Every trap removed is a life saved, and a blow to the systems of destruction that rely on secrecy and indifference.

In the Faroe Islands, Sea Shepherd continues to expose the brutal slaughter. Just this week, 117 pilot whales – including pregnant females and juveniles – were killed in Tjørnuvík, a highly visible tourist destination seeing its first hunt since 2017. With over 500 whales killed this year, the scale and visibility of these hunts are impossible to ignore. Perhaps most disturbing, these hunts are not carried out in secret, but in broad daylight with growing indignance.

I’ve been a member of Sea Shepherd since the 1980s, and I’ve never wavered in my belief in this mission. Today, I’m proud to serve as one member of an extraordinary team through one of the most meaningful and active periods in our nearly half-century history, thanks to people like you who care deeply about defending life in the ocean.

If you’re ready to take the next step, consider joining the Direct Action Crew. Monthly donors are the backbone of everything we do, from keeping our ships at sea to giving our crews the tools they need to act on behalf of wildlife in danger. DAC members also receive 20% off all Sea Shepherd Store items, with new products released every month.

Thank you for standing with us and for helping Sea Shepherd stay on the front lines where it matters most.
