In 2024, we won the VA-10 Congressional race by 4.6%, making this the 18th closest race in the entire country.
That kind of margin isn’t an anomaly – it’s the norm. To take back the House in 2026, we’re going to face a dozen races with margins that slim or slimmer. So, let’s talk about how we won this the first time around.
1. Fundraising was critically important. Winning this race cost a little under $3M and over 80% of that came from individual grassroots donations.
2. Talking to voters in the district made the difference. In 2024, we knocked over 100,000 doors. We’re not talking about campaign operatives – we’re talking about everyday people spending their weekends talking to others and getting out the word.
Here’s the last big thing: We didn’t win this in a single election cycle . This seat was red during the last Trump midterm in 2018 – and for the preceding 18 years. Flipping this seat – and holding onto it – took serious, sustained efforts from Democrats like you.
