Hi,

I’ve got a thought I want to get off my chest. It's something I’ve been
thinking about these last few weeks.

Since November, we’ve had a really important conversation about how the
Democratic Party can and must build the coalition necessary to win the
midterm elections and the next presidential election.

We’ve talked about what we can do better and how we can be more welcoming.
And a lot of that conversation has focused on keeping more moderate and
centrist voters within the Democratic coalition.

But here’s the truth: as we talk about building a big tent, we have to
recognize that a big tent goes both ways. It includes the center, the
center-left, and the left.

If we want to build a party of inclusion — if we want to reject the
politics of exclusion — then we have to make space for anyone who wants to
build an economy that works for everyone, who believes in protecting our
democracy, and the values and rights at its heart.

We have to reject this false choice that to win, we have to sacrifice any
part of our coalition. The party that is the most welcoming to anyone who
would consider making it their political home is the party that will win.

We can be a truly big tent. And that means harnessing the passion, energy,
and vision of our progressive movement in the path forward.

We’re organizing every day to grow this broad, inclusive coalition, one
that doesn’t leave people behind or back down from our values.

you’ll chip in today to help us grow our movement.

Thanks for hearing me out — and for standing with me as we build a party,
and a future, where everyone has a place.

In solidarity,

Sarah
