John, recently, I was honored with the Keystone Courage Award from CeaseFirePA, Pennsylvania's gun violence prevention organization.

I want to tell you a little about why this means so much to me, but first, will you chip in to my re-election campaign so I can keep up the fight to end gun violence in our communities?

The issue of gun violence is what brought me to public service. When I was just a kid in McKeesport, an incident of gun violence in my neighborhood spurred me into a lifetime of public service.

I knew I had to do everything in my power to prevent what happened to my community from happening again and make sure families of victims receive the support they need.

I believe it's possible to end gun violence. Our communities deserve to be safe. No family should have to go through what I witnessed in McKeesport, and I fight for that every day.

With common-sense gun safety legislation and targeted investments in public education and community programming, we will create a better, safer future for the next generation so that they can thrive here in PA and beyond.
