Friend,
There are so many great provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill, including historic improvements to child care access and affordability.
This is one of the top issues I hear about as I travel through our district. I hear from moms who want to go back into the workforce but can’t find child care that makes sense financially, and from small businesses who struggle to find workers because of child care accessibility issues. That’s why Republicans put child care affordability and accessibility front and center in the One Big Beautiful Bill.
Let’s start with the historic tax relief for working families. Aimed at improving the accessibility and affordability of child care, the One Big Beautiful Bill enhanced the following tax credits:
● The Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit (CDCTC)
● The Dependent Assistance Program (DCAP), and
● The Employer-Provided Child Care Tax Credit (45 F)
45F was outdated, and businesses were not able to take advantage of the credit. Through these changes, we are ensuring more businesses can provide child care for their employees. By making permanent increases to the CDCTC, we are directly targeting and helping low- and middle-income working parents offset the cost of child care.
And to put it in perspective, CDCTC and 45F have not been permanently updated since 2001. Since then, child care costs have increased by 263%. DCAP has not been updated since 1986. Strong families are the cornerstone of a strong society and a strong economy, and the One Big Beautiful Bill is the key to driving stability for working families, our workforce, and our communities.
I was proud to work to secure these pro-family wins in the bill. And remember, when Democrats were in power – they hired IRS agents to come after working families. Republicans under President Trump used this opportunity to provide relief to working parents across this country...and we are just getting started!
Sincerely,
|
