Emergency Dredging Underway in Ocean City Inlet
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers launched emergency dredging in the Ocean City Inlet last week to clear out hazardous shoaling and ensure safe passage for boats during the busy summer season. With the White Marlin Open right around the corner, immediate action was necessary to protect public safety and support our local economy. After hearing concerns from constituents, I pushed for this effort and I’m glad the Corps responded promptly by deploying the dredge Merritt. This work is essential to keeping Ocean City’s waterways open for business. I’m proud to support it and help protect jobs, tourism, and the livelihoods of Maryland's First District.
Meeting with the Responsible Fathers Initiative
This week, I had the opportunity to meet with the Responsible Fathers Initiative (RFI), a community-based program based in Easton, Maryland, that equips young men and fathers with the tools they need to build stronger families and brighter futures. RFI helps fathers at all stages of life develop essential skills in parenting, communication, and leadership. Their work helps young men stay on the right path, reconnect with their families, and prepare for success. It was a privilege to meet the leaders behind the program who are helping guide young men toward stability, responsibility, and stronger futures.

Military Academy Nominations
I’m excited to announce that my office is now accepting applications from high school students in Maryland’s First District who are hoping to join the Class of 2030 at a U.S. Service Academy.
If you’re interested in attending the U.S. Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, or Merchant Marine Academy, I encourage you to apply for a nomination. Each year, I have the privilege of nominating exceptional students to these prestigious institutions. The academies develop leaders of character who are committed to serving our country, and I’m proud to support the next generation of military officers from our district.
Applicants must apply by October 31, 2025. Interviews will be held in the fall, and I’ll submit nominations by the end of the year. For details and to get started, call my office at (202) 225-5311 or visit the link HERE.
