Friend – The Trump administration reportedly plans to deploy 2,000 National Guard troops to ICE detention centers nationwide. They have already started using military bases for detaining immigrants. We must take action.
The National Guard should focus on assisting with true emergencies, like natural disaster responses, not carrying out Trump's anti-immigrant policies. Make no mistake: This move is dangerous for troops and civilians alike – and takes the National Guard away from necessary jobs in their communities. We will keep you updated as more information becomes clear on this issue, but in the meantime you can take action now: Send a message to Congress demanding the Trump administration withdraw military troops from our communities and stop using military bases for detention.
