Disability Pride

This Disability Pride Month, we want public health workers to learn what they can do to make sure people with disabilities have what they need to be healthy.
Check out our new resource, “Getting People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities What They Need, A Plain-Language Introduction for Public Health Workers.” [ [link removed] ]

Screen grab of the cover of the new reading, with an image of a group of racially diverse and neurodiverse group of people that promotes the new plain language introductions for public health workers, it includes a quote from a person with IDD that states people with IDD matter and are important.

This introduction helps public health workers better understand how to get people with IDD what they need, covering:

- What problems do people with IDD have in getting what they need to be healthy?

- How do social causes of health problems affect people with IDD?

- Helpful strategies and resources to support people with IDD.

Disability Pride Month is celebrated in July to mark the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a landmark civil rights law enacted on July 26,1990. Disability Pride Month is a great chance to celebrate and honor people with disabilities in public health!
