Friends,

As Congress heads into its August recess, I would like to take a moment to thank you for staying engaged and informed. Your attention and support are what make our work in Washington matter.

The first half of the 119th Congress has delivered real results, especially on the Energy and Commerce Committee. We've advanced commonsense policies to unleash American energy, boost technological innovation to help win the AI race, and protect access to life-saving healthcare and treatments.

Here’s what that looks like so far:

  • 43 bills passed by the House
  • 12 bills signed into law (including the One Big Beautiful Bill)
  • 10 Congressional Review Acts enacted
  • 74 hours of legislative markups
  • 41 hearings and markups held
These numbers represent more than activity; they represent real progress. And as we head into the second half of the first session, I’m excited to deliver even more wins for TX-02.

We’re just getting started.

Sincerely,

ATF Pistol Brace Rule

This week, the Department of Justice withdrew its appeal, effectively ending the administration’s attempt to enforce a rule that unfairly targeted law-abiding gun owners, particularly disabled veterans who depend on pistol braces for safe and responsible firearm use.

I have long opposed this regulatory overreach and will continue working to protect Second Amendment rights and ensure that federal agencies are held accountable to the law and the Constitution.

Celebrating the Life of Reese Manchaca

Image

This weekend, I joined the Montgomery County community to honor the life of Reese Manchaca, a bright, beloved young woman whose life was tragically cut short during the July 4th flooding.

Reese was the best of us. She was a top student, a leader, and a light in every room she entered. Her kindness, ambition, and faith left a mark on everyone who knew her. It was deeply moving to see the outpouring of love and support from her classmates at Caney Creek High School, as well as from law enforcement officers and community members who helped bring her home.

As we remembered her life, we also felt the power of faith and the strength of community. Reese’s story is a reminder to live with purpose, lead with kindness, and put our trust in something greater.

Please continue to keep her family in your prayers. May her memory continue to inspire us all.

Texas Restaurant Association

Image
It was a privilege to join the Texas Restaurant Association at this year’s Texas Restaurant Show in Houston. I appreciated the opportunity to sit down with Kelsey Streufert, TRA’s Chief Public Affairs Officer, for a thoughtful discussion in their Advocacy Lounge. We covered how the One Big Beautiful Bill supports Texas restaurants through smart tax policy, workforce development, and small business relief.
The TRA has been a strong partner, especially during the challenges of COVID, and I remain committed to supporting the entrepreneurs, workers, and families who keep our restaurant industry thriving.

Energy and Commerce Markup

H.R. 4273, the Over-the-Counter Monograph User Fee Act, passed out of committee and represents a smart, targeted update that helps the FDA review everyday OTC products, like allergy and heartburn medications, more efficiently.

Nine out of ten Americans rely on these medicines. This bill builds on a successful program by improving transparency, enhancing industry input, and ensuring that user fees, not taxpayer dollars, fund oversight.

It’s a common-sense, pro-consumer policy that keeps families healthy and the government focused.

SITREP 21: How the Obama Admin Manufactured the Russia Collusion Conspiracy

Image

The Situation Report for July 24, 2025. I cover the biggest story of the week: Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s criminal referral to the Department of Justice over the Intelligence Community’s 2017 “Russia collusion” claims, laying out what Director Gabbard uncovered and what happens next. I also cover new trade deals, efforts to defund gender transition procedures, a disturbing report on America’s organ transplant system, and much more.
