Dear friend;

July was another exciting month for Team Healey-Driscoll, including huge wins for Massachusetts families, renters, and students. Here are just some of the impactful accomplishments from July that the Gov and Lt. Gov are excited to celebrate:

  • As part of her continued focus on lowering costs for residents, on July 21 Governor Healey announced that the Division of Insurance has negotiated down proposed rate increases from six health insurers, saving Massachusetts residents and businesses a projected $4.5 million in health care premiums for 2026.
  • On July 17, Governor Healey signed an executive order establishing an Anti-Hunger Task Force that will work to prevent Massachusetts families from going hungry as President Trump cuts food assistance for children, seniors, veterans and people with disabilities.
  • On July 16, the Healey-Driscoll Administration announced the launch of the Live Theater Tax Credit Pilot Program to support new and growing live theatrical production throughout Massachusetts.
  • On July 15, Governor Healey proclaimed July 15th as WNBA Day in Boston in Massachusetts and called for a WNBA team in Boston.
  • On July 15, Lieutenant Governor Driscoll testified in support of the Mass Ready Act, a $3 billion investment to streamline permitting for housing, strengthen infrastructure, protect clean water and prepare for extreme weather.
  • On July 10, CNBC named Massachusetts as the Most Improved State for Business, jumping 18 spots from the previous year and ranking higher than any other New England state.
  • On July 10, data released by the state's Department of Higher Ed showed that MassReconnect, Governor Healey’s cost-free community college program for students ages 25 and older, continued drawing adult learners to Massachusetts’ community colleges in its second year. According to the new data, community college enrollment of new students ages 25+ without a prior college degree grew by 39.6 percent between the fall 2023 and 2024 semesters.
  • On July 9, Governor Healey called for a bell-to-bell cellphone ban in public schools with options for parents to contact their children during the school day. The Governor says a ban will support parents and teachers, protect the mental health of young people, and help our students learn and grow.
  • On July 4, Governor Healey signed the Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) state budget, a $60.9 billion plan to make Massachusetts more affordable, improve transportation, invest in the state's world-class education system, and grow the economy.
  • On July 2, Governor Healey announced that the Fiscal Year 2026 budget would include her proposal to eliminate renter-paid broker’s fees. In January, Governor Healey filed an outside section in her FY26 budget proposal that would require the fee to be paid by whoever hires the broker, which is usually the landlord.

We're so grateful for Team Healey-Driscoll and their work on behalf of our Commonwealth!
