[fossil fuel industry (oil, gas and plastic) has influenced the negotiations]([link removed])
Dear John,
This August in Geneva, Switzerland, world leaders will meet for INC 5.2, the next United Nations negotiation session to develop a globally binding treaty to address plastic pollution. However, so far the fossil fuel industry (oil, gas and plastic) has influenced the negotiations, obstructing the strong agreement we need to cut plastic pollution at its source β and we expect this round will be no different. [Thatβs why we must act now.]([link removed])
Plastic production is expected to triple by 2060 β unless we stop it from happening. At past negotiation sessions, we engaged directly with the U.S. Government delegation, urging global caps on plastic production and more critical points. We will continue to advocate however we can, but the current Administration presents an even greater challenge, and their position is being heavily influenced by industry.
[DONATE NOW]([link removed])
Now more than ever, we need your support to help counter the damaging messages of the fossil fuel industry at these negotiations. Attempting to line their pockets at the cost of trashing people and our planet? [Not]([link removed])[if we can help it]([link removed]). This treaty is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a more just, equitable world free of plastic pollution and its toxic impacts.
Will you join us in making a difference?
Thank you for your support,
