Hi, it’s Kendall, Mike’s Research Director.
Just wanted to make sure you saw this: Yesterday, Walmart announced that it would stop displaying the Mississippi state flag — the only flag in the country that still bears the confederate battle emblem.
The fact that a giant American corporation like Walmart decided to make this change is a big deal. Not only does it prove that grassroots change is happening in Mississippi — it proves that the people are demanding it.
It’s up to us to keep up the momentum. Will you chip in $10 for the first time to help elect Mike Espy to the U.S. Senate, where he’ll lead Mississippi into a better and brighter future? A new Mississippi is possible if we fight for it. [[link removed]]

Mike has been calling for a new Mississippi flag for decades. In recent weeks, not only has Mike renewed the call to #TakeItDown — he’s called for Mississippi to remove confederate statues from the U.S. Capitol. Mike believes that a new flag design is needed to unify people and take Mississippi forward.
I have been tracking the Mississippi flag very closely. It’s not just Walmart that made this important decision in the past week. The NCAA, a diverse group of faith leaders, and colleges and universities across the state have all denounced the Mississippi flag and its confederate battle emblem.
What’s more, Democrats and Republicans alike have been calling for the Mississippi state flag to be replaced. Just this morning, virtually every major business in Mississippi followed Mike’s lead and published a full-page ad in our biggest newspaper, calling on state leaders to abandon the flag once and for all.
Meanwhile, our far-right opponent Cindy Hyde-Smith (or as I like to call her, Hiding Hyde-Smith) has been silent on this issue. In fact, Hyde-Smith has photos of herself standing proudly in front of the Mississippi flag with the confederate emblem all over her campaign website.

If you believe it’s time for a better and brighter Mississippi, will you chip in $10 now to help elect Mike Espy to the U.S. Senate and make it happen?
