General Newsletter From the Office of Senator Andy Kim

Happy Friday, New Jersey!

We are so grateful to everyone who came to our town hall last Saturday. Close to 500 people showed up in Westfield, NJ to share their thoughts and engage in the kids of civil conversations we know still matter.

Senator Kim says that the opposite of democracy is apathy, and the overwhelming response to Saturday's town hall gave us hope for the fights ahead.

Working for New Jersey:

FIGHTING FOR MEDICAID RECIPIENTS IN NEW JERSEY:

When Senator Kim was in New Jersey, he toured the Zufall community health center in Bridgewater and talked with both doctors and patients about the critical services they provide.

Republicans’ vote to gut health care in the passage of the Big Disastrous Bill directly harms places like Zufall Health and the 52,000 patients that they see.

We believe a healthier New Jersey is a stronger New Jersey, and supporting access to health care is a critical component of treating all of us, including the most vulnerable, with the dignity and decency we all deserve.

TOURING A SOLAR FARM IN PITTSTOWN:

We toured solar panel installations in Pittstown and met with some of the key people helping to make NJ a leader in the solar industry.

Being a leader is important because it means better jobs for people in our state, and it helps us compete with countries like China who dominate the market.

Those jobs and our competitiveness are at risk of going away because of the votes Rep. Tom Kean Jr. and other Republicans took to pass their Big Disastrous Bill. It’s going to take a lot to reverse these cuts and restore those opportunities, but Senator Kim is committed to working with our neighbors to get it done.

ADVOCATING FOR QUALITY EDUCATION FOR ALL:

Education unlocks opportunity no matter your age.

We hosted an adult education roundtable in Flemington this past weekend to hear direct stories about the impact federal budget cuts to education will have on families and communities.

We must continue to stand up against this administration’s attack on learning and speak out about the harm this will cause future generations.

Working for you at the Capitol:

FIGHTING TO BUILD MORE AFFORDABLE HOUSING:

It's time to tackle the housing crisis so many of us face. Senator Kim has introduced two bills that will help us increase housing production, support redevelopment, lower costs, and preserve environmental protections so people in New Jersey and around the country can live safe and healthy lives.

We have no time to waste when it comes to making sure we can build more affordable housing.

Watch Senator Kim break down the housing bills he introduced this week.

Here are 3 ridiculous things Republicans put in their Big Disastrous Bill at the expense of Medicaid for 16 million Americans and food assistance for families:

  • Tax breaks for people who fly on private jets.
  • $200 billion in tax breaks for the rum industry.
  • $85 million to move a space shuttle from Virginia to Texas.
