Folks, Republicans in Congress just voted to rip federal funding from public broadcasters — and it’s going to have devastating effects on Colorado:

CBS: Public radio stations in Colorado prepare to lose millions of dollars in federal funding

Republicans voted to cut over $1 BILLION from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the nonprofit organization that supports NPR, PBS, and over a thousand public TV and radio stations in local communities across the country.

John fought tooth and nail to stop the GOP’s package of cuts from passing through the Senate, but Republicans blocked amendment after amendment and rammed these cruel cuts through. Now we’re calling on this grassroots team to help us sound the alarm and call on the Trump administration to reverse course NOW. Please, can we count on you to sign on to John’s petition and fight with us to restore funding for public TV and radio? → [[link removed]]

This is going to have disastrous effects on Americans’ access to free, timely, and accurate information — but it’s potentially deadly for rural Coloradans.

Local radio and television stations carry emergency alerts for extreme weather and natural disasters — which are critical for Coloradans in remote locations without access to internet or cell service. Ripping away the resources that keep these stations running puts countless lives at risk.

Republicans aren’t making government more efficient — they’re dismantling it piece by piece, and leaving the rural communities who rely on these critical services in the dust.

We have to make our voices heard. So please, sign your name next to John Hickenlooper’s right now and fight with us to restore funding for our public TV and radio stations. → [[link removed]]
