This isn’t hypothetical. Earlier this year, a woman in Tennessee was denied routine prenatal care simply because she wasn’t married. Her doctor refused to treat her under a new Tennessee law that lets providers deny care based on “moral or religious beliefs.” She had to travel all the way to Virginia for routine care.
