RSVP: Join A.G. Holder at a virtual event on voting rights!

Voting rights are civil rights and -- we fight for civil rights.

Seven years ago, the Supreme Court gutted a key provision of the Voting Rights Act that had required certain states and jurisdictions with a history of voting discrimination to seek federal approval before changing any voting laws.

The Shelby County decision unleashed a sudden and persistent wave of restrictive voting laws in states across the country and, unsurprisingly, has had a disproportionate impact on communities of color who have historically faced additional and unnecessary barriers to casting their ballots. As Justice Ginsburg wrote in dissent of the decision, removing the preclearance requirement was like throwing away your umbrella in the middle of a rainstorm because you're not getting wet.

Tomorrow, Thursday, June 25 at 12pm ET, you'll have the opportunity to join A.G. Holder, as well the president of Let America Vote, Tiffany Muller, and our president, Kelly Burton, for an hour-long discussion on the consequences of the Shelby County decision on voting rights. They'll break down the impact of the Court's reckless ruling and provide the roadmap to how we are fighting back to restore voting rights to everyone.

Register for Thursday's virtual event "Seven Years Under Shelby: A Conversation on Voting Rights" here! After you RSVP. you will receive a link to tune into the online discussion that begins at 12pm ET.
