The original Lady Hell Cats were the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve in World War I. Thousands of women Marines, making the same pay as men of equal rank, at a time when women didn’t yet have the right to vote.
They were revolutionary.
Then, in World War II, Elizabeth Hooker, Barbara Kibbee Jayne, and Cecil Kenyon became the first women test pilots, flying Navy planes. Their first assignment was the F6F Hellcat. Hellcats went on to notch more than 5163 aerial victories, more than half of all Navy and Marine kills in World War II.
Now, in 2025, Hellcats are back in service.
If we have a majority in the House in 2027 it will be because these Hellcats helped us get there, but we’ve got a lot of work ahead. GOP led states are already trying to stack the deck against us by gerrymandering their congressional districts and suppressing votes.
We have to be ready to fight them with everything we’ve got, and we’ll be supporting the Hellcats every step of the way.
Fundraising, organizing, strategy — you name it, we’re in. And to help make sure the Hellcats have the ammo they need to win, we’re asking you to make a donation.
Please, chip in to VoteVets so we can support candidates like Maura Sullivan, Rebecca Bennett, Joanna Mendoza, and Cait Conley. VoteVets has a critical role to play in the fight for the U.S. House of Representatives, and we can’t do that work without your help.
