John, I want to share our official campaign video with you. This video encapsulates my own personal story growing up in former Czechoslovakia during the Velvet Revolution, a people-led, nonviolent movement for peace and equality. During those fateful few months, I saw my birth country transitioning from a totalitarian government controlled by a corrupted party to a democracy that put regular people first. There are moments in history that can define an entire generation. The Velvet Revolution was one, and I believe we are in a similar moment in America right now. Our country was already teetering on the cliff. Now, the COVID-19 crisis has sent us over the edge. We are in the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, with 44 million people filing for unemployment. Our private healthcare system continues to put profits over human lives, with 43 million Americans estimated to lose their health insurance during a global pandemic. And our government’s response? Give corporations hundreds of billions in bailouts yet again while working people get a measly one-time $1,200 check. I’m running for Congress because I’m tired of our politicians putting corporations over people. I’m running for universal healthcare, climate action at the scale of the crisis, and deep criminal justice reform. And with just 41 days left until the election, we are working hard to reach more voters but we need to hit our goals to stay on track. All the best, Eva Putzova
