They did it: Congress killed federal funding for public broadcasting. Washington is clawing back the $1.1 billion it already appropriated for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a crucial funder of many of the public radio stations that air Reveal, our weekly radio show.
Without this funding, public media is at risk of decimation. Many local radio stations are at imminent risk of cutting back operations or shutting down when the federal funding dries up starting in October.
