Team, it’s a dark time for the LGBTQ+ community as Donald Trump unveils cruel attacks on their freedom and safety at an unprecedented pace. And now this:

NBC: Trump administration shuts down LGBTQ youth suicide hotline

Just last week, the Trump administration shut down the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline’s (988) specialized services for LGBTQ+ youth. And I refuse to sit by and watch as Trump puts children’s lives in danger. Please, sign my petition calling on the federal government to restore the crisis line for LGBTQ+ youth NOW →

For many young people, this crisis line was the only place they could turn when they couldn’t seek support at home or in their community.

Since its creation, the specialized 988 crisis line has answered almost 1.5 MILLION calls for help from LGBTQ+ youth. The qualified, trained professionals on the other end could speak directly to their needs — and have saved countless lives through their work. By shutting it all down, Donald Trump is directly threatening the lives of countless LGBTQ+ kids across the United States.

Mental health services shouldn’t be a partisan issue — especially when children’s lives are at stake. And this issue is far too important to let Donald Trump have the last word.

That’s why I’m fighting in Congress to secure the funding we need to expand access to affordable specialty mental health care, and to train behavioral health professionals who have the cultural experience to adequately care for LGBTQ+ youth.

And it’s why I’m asking every member of this grassroots team (including you!) to help me sound the alarm on Trump’s cruel attacks on the most vulnerable among us. Please, if you’re with me, sign my petition calling on the federal government to restore the 988’s suicide hotline for LGBTQ+ youth NOW →
