On Wednesday, July 30, at 3 p.m. ET, tune in for "Paving the Way for Black Mental Health: A Conversation With Three Founders," the newest episode of our Elevating Voices for Long-Lasting Change series. In this important conversation, airing during National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, AFSP Vice President for Health Equity and Engagement Victor (Vic) Armstrong, MSW, talks with three founders of leading Black mental health organizations about the unique challenges and solutions surrounding mental health and suicide prevention in Black and African American communities. The panel discussion will consider:
- What are the unique challenges faced by Black and African American communities in accessing mental health care?
- Why is it important to have resources that reflect cultural relevance?
- What role have you seen stigma play in the work you do?
- What stories of success have you seen surrounding mental health and suicide prevention in Black and African American communities?
- What advice would you give to someone who is looking for a way to join the effort to support Black mental health?
