1. Responding: Central Texas Floods
Fed by heavy rains, the Guadalupe River in Central Texas rose suddenly in the early hours of July 4 and swept through communities and campgrounds.
The devastation from the flooding has been heartbreaking. The death toll is reported to be at least 135, including more than 30 children. Families are grieving – having suffered unimaginable losses.
An Americares emergency response team deployed to hard-hit Kerrville, Texas, to help address the most urgent health needs in affected communities, including support for mental health.
