John, it’s Valerie Foushee
Donald Trump is dismantling the Department of Education with mass layoffs and funding cuts — and we’re already seeing the consequences:

North Carolina’s schools will lose more than $165 million in public education funding and nearly 1,000 educators across the state will lose their jobs — and John, we’re only a month away from the first day of school. Will you add your name to stand with me against these cuts?
John, our public schools aren’t perfect – but they helped get me to where I am today. Growing up in the midst of the Civil Rights movement meant that I experienced my fair share of discrimination and inequities as a young Black woman. Despite those challenges, I was able to find support from teachers, friends, and faculty who believed in me.
Now, I’m committed to making our public schools the best they can be for everyone, regardless of their race, religion, or where they live.
But instead of working to improve our public schools, Donald Trump and the GOP want to throw it all away — starting with funding cuts just like this one. Decades of progress we’ve made to get here are on the line. Will you sign my petition to show your support?
Thank you,
Valerie Foushee
