** The New Sanctions Evasion Playbook
------------------------------------------------------------
As Western governments expand sanctions against regimes in Russia, Iran, and beyond, global criminal networks are finding new ways to stay one step ahead. This OCCRP Briefing dives into the evolving tactics used to bypass sanctions enforcement — leveraging shell companies, obscure intermediaries, and digital currencies to move goods, wealth, and influence.
Join us for a close look at how today’s sanctions evasion networks operate. Featuring veteran investigative journalist Julia Wallace and a group of renowned sanctions experts, the panel will discuss recent findings that expose the limits of current regulatory systems.
We’ll explore how state actors, oligarchs, and criminal syndicates build resilient evasion networks — and how corporate service providers, lightly regulated jurisdictions, and unwitting enablers help them thrive. We’ll also discuss the implications for AML teams, regulators, and financial institutions trying to keep up with increasingly decentralized and adaptable threats.
This session will give you critical insights into the modern sanctions-evasion landscape — and what to watch for next.
