Bringing life-changing hope and restoration to victimized women and children.

John,

Another few weeks, and summer will wind down and turn into back-to-school time — can you believe it?

So much potential! So much promise, as children and teens look to a new year ahead!

But as the bus pulls away and parents and caregivers wave good-bye — there’s sometimes a nagging question:

Will their children be safe?

Shared Hope’s goal is the safety of every child in America. This is why I’m writing to you today.

I am thinking of a 14-year-old middle-schooler I call Lucy, I think you need to hear her story. Her Father was overseas with the U.S. Army, her mother confident that Lucy and her younger sister were getting on the bus to school while she went to work.

But no. A young man had spent weeks and weeks becoming Lucy’s “friend.”

When he put her to work in a strip club, selling her body day after day, he threatened to hurt her mother and sister if she ever revealed what was happening to her.

So she never got on that school bus.

She met her slavemaster-pimp at Starbucks.

She never said a word.

She was trapped. And her mother didn’t know.

How did Lucy ever escape? A friend like you helped Shared Hope intervene.

Shared Hope provided training to first responders, probation officers, and others in the “system,” teaching them to spot the telltale signs of child sex trafficking.

A probation officer, who had gone through that very training, soon spotted Lucy in the hospital after a violent incident. That officer — seeing the signs, knowing the danger — reached out to us for help.

We worked with law enforcement to quickly relocate Lucy, her mother, and her young sister to safety.

Would Lucy’s story have turned out any differently if her mother knew? If her mother was prepared?

Shared Hope wants every parent and caregiver to know. To be prepared.

So, I want to share with you our new, comprehensive resources for parents, teachers, and all those working with youth … resources that reveal an evil that manipulates and brutally steals the innocence of our children in every community in America, and online.

Our new, empowering tools include …

our brand-new, practical Internet Safety Guide

an informative mobile app resource

a new educational video series about the latest technology

and more!

I’m so grateful for your support and prayers for our work — how you helped us finish our fiscal year in a position of strength and to make these new tools available.

Today I boldly ask: Please give a generous tax-deductible contribution to help get the word out about these tools — to make them available to more children and families.

We have some resources developed, but we need your help to continue creating them so what happened to Lucy doesn’t happen again … so that parents and caregivers can help their kids navigate through these years of technology.

With your help, we can equip families with tools to prevent the horror of child sex trafficking happening right in our own backyards, neighbors, even our own circle of friends.

Together, we will invade the pervasive darkness within our communities and prevent more tragedies.

Thank you!
