Supporting our Military
Last week, the House PASSED the Fiscal Year 2026 Defense Appropriations bill. As a member of the House Committee on Appropriations, I take seriously the responsibility of overseeing the use of your tax dollars to ensure we invest in our nation’s military, protect our southern border, and support our troops and their families. The following are some key provisions of the FY26 Defense Appropriations bill:
3.8% pay increase in basic pay for military personnel $13 billion for missile defense and space initiatives $1.15 billion for counter drug programs Transferring Mexico's jurisdiction from U.S. Northern Command to U.S. Southern Command for improved coordination
Meeting Members of the Mississippi State Legislature
I was honored to meet with members of the Mississippi legislature who were in D.C. recently. Thank you to Sen. Jeremy England, Rep. Kevin Felsher, Rep. Brent Anderson, Sen. Scott Delano, Rep. Jimmy Fondren, and Rep. Zach Grady for meeting with my staff and me. Thank you for your service to our state.
Legislation on the Floor This Week H.R. 1549 – China Financial Threat Mitigation Act of 2025
The China Threat Mitigation Act of 2025 requires the Secretary of the Treasury to report on the global economic risks emanating from the Chinese financial sector.
H.R. 4275 – Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2025
The Coast Guest Authorization Act of 2025 authorizes appropriations for the Coast Guard (Service), establishes a Secretary of the Coast Guard, and amends authorities, programs, and statutes administered by the Coast Guard.
