Corn Sweat Summer is officially here, folks, and just in time for a major heat wave over the Midwest.
If you’re a MAGA congressperson, you’re probably blaming the corn for this hellish humidity and demanding a “War on Crops” as revenge.
Those of us who comprehend science know another species is really to blame for this fry-an-egg-on-the-sidewalk weather: ours .
Heat waves are becoming hotter. They’re happening more often. Nonprofit org Climate Central found that the effects of climate change tripled the chances of an extreme heat event in the U.S. this summer.
Climate change isn’t a future problem. Climate change is a right-now problem. It’s happening all around us.
I’ve been on the front lines of the fight against climate change since 2000, in the business world and on Capitol Hill. I’ll never stop seeking sustainable solutions that make our economy stronger. And I hope you’ll stand with me, because saving humanity is not a one-man job.
Can I count on you to join my battle for a sustainable American future by chipping in $10 today? [[link removed]]

Before we wrap up, here are a few tips to stay safe and cool in this heat:
* Block sunlight to keep the house cool.
* Check the house for air leakage.
* Drink plenty of water, but don’t forget to balance it with enough salt, too.
* Try to limit energy use, especially appliances like the oven and dryer (a good time to get creative with cooking).
* Swap out incandescent lightbulbs with low-heat, cost-effective LEDs.
* And most importantly, check in regularly with older family members, neighbors with health challenges, anyone who might need a helping hand. We’re all in this corn-sweat nightmare together.
