John,
For the Juneteenth weekend, we asked the Run for Something community to celebrate by supporting our 47 endorsed Black candidates running for office.
We’d originally set a goal of $19,000 in honor of 6/19.
But thanks to nearly 500 generous donors, we more than doubled it, raising nearly $40,000 directly for all the campaigns.
This is a part of how we can create an equitable nation where Black Lives Matter -- by electing young, diverse, progressives to every electable seat. That means district attorneys who will prosecute police officers when they murder unarmed people. That means city councils and mayors who will focus on funding schools, housing, and health care instead of more weapons for the police. That means state legislators who will ban chokeholds and address officer misconduct (like Iowa just did).
Change is not easy, and it is rarely immediate. But I know the work we do together as Run For Something is having an impact, and I’m grateful to every person who is a part of it whether you’re running for office, thinking about running, volunteering with one of our candidates, or pitching in a few bucks to support the work.
Thank you,
Amanda Litman

P.S. Juneteenth weekend may be over, but
you can still split a donation between these 47 Black candidates running in states across the country and Run for Something. In these races, every dollar means a lot.
