Today, I want to talk to you about what’s happening in my home state.
Georgia Republicans are preparing to cancel the voter registrations of nearly half a million people across the state — that will be the second-largest purge that Georgia has ever seen. It is also expected to be one of the largest mass voter removals in U.S. history.
Voter purges silence thousands of eligible voters — from military service members to college students, to those who did not vote in previous elections. They also disproportionately impact historically disenfranchised communities. In 2017, thousands of eligible Black, Latino, and low-income voters were removed from the statewide rolls.
Make no mistake — voter purges are a tool of suppression and voter intimidation that have a long history in Georgia dating back to Reconstruction and carrying even beyond the shameful era of Jim Crow.
This is a warning to all Georgia voters: You have to fight to stay registered to vote. Our leaders should be protecting your freedom to vote, not quietly taking it away.
The time has never been more critical to power our pro-voter movement and prepare for more attacks on voting from Georgia Republicans and their MAGA cronies. If you’re able, chip in to Fair Fight and fuel the fight to defend democracy. [[link removed]]

When I founded Fair Fight, it was with a basic goal to defend a basic principle: our freedom to vote.
So, when our elected officials try to restrict that freedom, Fair Fight is on the frontlines fighting tirelessly to protect it.
The architecture of voter suppression has three components: 1. Can you register and stay on the voter rolls? 2. Can you cast your ballot? And 3. Can your ballot be counted?
In Georgia, we’ve seen obstacles around all three — which underscores the state’s long history of disenfranchising voters.
But there is a reason why these Republicans want to restrict access to the ballot: It’s because they’re afraid of what will happen when we tap into our voting power and move our state, and our nation, toward a truly inclusive and representative democracy.
The right to vote shouldn’t come with an expiration date. If you believe that real patriotism in action is expanding the freedom to vote — not restricting it —make a donation to Fair Fight today to power their work to combat voter suppression during this critical time for voters in Georgia.
