Right now our democracy is being put to the test. The recently opened
“Alligator Alcatraz” facility that Trump has championed is subjecting
immigrants to some of the worst conditions imaginable, and our government
is doing nothing to stop it.
According to news reports and first-hand accounts, detainees have dealt
with:
* Worms in their food
* Flooding and mosquito swarms in the facility
* Toilets that don’t flush, with raw sewage pooling near the bunk beds
* Air conditioners that randomly shut off
* Having their phone calls to lawyers and loved ones recorded
Many of those inside the facility have no criminal record, and some are
minors. It’s cruelty for the sake of cruelty, violating the basic human
rights of those detained there.
Pramila hasn’t been shy about speaking out against the Trump
administration’s cruel treatment of immigrants, and she’s not stopping
now.
She recently introduced legislation to end ICE’s illegal targeting of US
citizens, and she’s going to continue speaking out to defend dignity and
human rights for everyone.
But Pramila can’t do it alone. Since she doesn’t take corporate PAC money,
she’s counting on grassroots supporters like you to keep her in Congress
fighting for us.
