John,
Across Pennsylvania, students are entering classrooms without a qualified teacher at the front of the room.
In Delaware County alone, over 500 emergency teaching permits were issued last year. That’s hundreds of classrooms with no stable, certified educator — and hundreds of students left behind because of a broken system.
But we’ve built a lifeline. At Delaware County Community College, our Teacher Education Program (TEP) is growing fast — tripling enrollment over just three years. We’re helping high school students earn up to 38 free college credits and get on a real path to the classroom.
This is what progress looks like. And it’s working. We just need to make sure it doesn’t stall out. This program helps future teachers — especially first generation students, students of color, and those from underserved districts — step into this career without debt or delay.
Thank you so much for believing in our mission,
Dr. Monica Taylor
P.S. Delaware County’s teacher pipeline is working — but it needs strong leadership to keep going. Can you chip in $ today to help me keep fighting for Delco? » [[link removed]]
