Americans spoke up — and Washington listened.

Hello John,
Now that the One Big Beautiful Bill is the law of the land, it’s time to kick
back, relax, and watch the magic happen …NOT!
If there’s one thing I learned from my 25 years working in Congress, it is
that there are no permanent victories. As soon as a bill becomes law, special
interests will make it their mission to repeal the parts they don’t like, and
political foes will distort what’s in it to further their personal ambitions.
We are already seeing it. A recent Politico story details how hospitals
affected by the Medicaid changes in the OBBB targeting waste, fraud, and abuse
“are already gearing up to use the next two and a half years to persuade
lawmakers to rescind” them. And you can bet that they will not be alone.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is already out with ads
targeting 35 battleground Republicans. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer
said the OBBB increases the odds that Democrats retake the Senate in the 2026
midterm elections.
So, expect the attacks to continue and increase in volume as we approach the
midterm elections next year. It just means we’ll have to remain vigilant and
work to protect what we’ve won.
It’s worth recapping what we need to preserve: The One Big Beautiful Bill
prevents a massive tax hike on middle-class American families andmakes these
tax cuts permanent. I cannot stress enough how important that is.
The primary reason we had to do a tax bill this year is that the 2017 tax cuts
were not permanent. By making them permanent, we make it easier for individuals
and businesses to make long-term plans.
But we also avoid a scenario five years hence when we would have to do another
bill like this one. And who knows? Progressives at that time might be in a
position to hold tax cuts hostage in exchange for many of their tax-and-spend
priorities. It’s a nightmare scenario we want to avoid.
* The OBBB also makes the largest investment in border security in history by
hiring 10,000 new ICE personnel, 5,000 new customs officers, and 3,000 new
Border Patrol agents.
* And it will lower energy costs by cutting regulations and red tape to make
it easier to develop energy right here in America.
* As for Medicaid, the OBBB will protect taxpayers by finally establishing
work requirements for able-bodied adults without children, demanding that
states do a better job of ensuring only those who qualify are in the program,
and limiting the states’ ability to shift their costs onto federal taxpayers
through financing schemes that have been called a money laundering “scam.”
These are victories worth fighting to keep. We know the progressives will be
out there going after members of Congress who did the right thing, so it’s
important that those members hear from folks like you thanking them for their
vote.
So, please, take a moment to say “thank you”

then get ready to defend it from the tax-and-spend liberals!
