Dear John,
I’m sure you’ve seen our emails: with the recent attacks on our public lands, we’ve been all hands on deck to fight for their protection. In the past month, we saw a horrific proposal to put 250 million acres of public lands for sale in Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” that was then dropped from the bill that passed. Why? Because of the immense public pressure that Congress saw from organizations all across the country, including OLCV. So many of our members stepped up to answer our call and sent their member of Congress an email. The immense support we showed for our public lands is exactly why the proposal was removed. But we can’t stop now.
Although this proposal was removed, and we should be celebrating, we can’t stop fighting as our public lands are still facing unprecedented attacks. From funding cuts, public lands being opened up for extraction, to the lay-offs of park and forest rangers who take care of these lands, our public lands are not safe. Especially after Trump’s ruling that the president can undo already established national monuments [[link removed]] .
We’re doing all that we can to stop the attack on public lands, but we need your support. Will you make a donation now on behalf of this fight? [[link removed]]

We’ve learned that public pressure is exactly what we need to win and protect our public lands from the unprecedented attacks we’ve recently seen on them. In our efforts, we asked our members to share stories about their connection to our treasured public lands and the support we received was vast. I’d like to share one of these member stories with you. This story was submitted by Leigh Blake from Trail, Oregon:
My first memory of an incredible National Park was 1947 when my parents took me at four years of age and my new born sister to Yosemite National Park… What a glorious trip!!! That valley with Mirror Lake and the wandering paths through the meadows was magical and the huge trees have always stayed in my memories… My mom went to feed a buck who was wandering through the camps and got kicked for her troubles!! She wasn't hurt but that was the first time in nature that I saw how wild creatures can have their own feelings… Mom was lucky she didn't get hurt. We've been in love with wildlife now forever!!
If Leigh’s story reminds you of your own connection to these incredible places, will you donate now and help us protect them for generations to come? [[link removed]]

We’ve won this battle before, and we can do it again with your support. As an OLCV member, I don’t doubt that you know how invaluable our public lands are. We can’t lose them.
Give now so we can keep going in this fight to ensure our public lands are untouched for our environment and future generations! [[link removed]]
