Dear John,
We’re excited to share that Sabr at Fajr by Saj Issa, a powerful new mural exploring patience, resilience, and cultural identity, has been officially unveiled in Los Angeles at the Islamic Center of Southern California!

This vibrant work of art draws inspiration from the symbolic Sabr plant, connecting the stories of Los Angeles and the Middle East while reflecting values of perseverance and hope.
MPAC is honored to have partnered in making this project possible because we believe in the power of art to heal, inspire, and offer hope. Sabr at Fajr declares that unity and resilience will always triumph over fear. This mural was made possible through the Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations’ Measure B fund and the MuralColors Artist Residency Program. With public art like this, LA vs Hate continues to use culture, dialogue, and community connection to stand against hate and division.
We thank our partners for their efforts to uplift marginalized voices and build a future rooted in justice and belonging. We are also grateful to the elected officials who stood in solidarity with us, affirming that when communities and leaders come together, we can shape a society grounded in dignity, equity, and shared humanity.
