Hey there!
I don’t want to eat up too much of your time on this busy Wednesday, so
I’ll get straight to the point:
I’ve had a busy summer on Capitol Hill, cosponsoring legislation, tackling
serious challenges, and finding ways to support Marylanders from every
walk of life.
Without further ado, here are 10 problems I’m addressing in the U.S.
Senate, and 12 pieces of legislation I’ve put forth or cosponsored to
solve them!

1. Keeping our communities safe with the Strong Communities Act, which
would reward law enforcement officers who work in the communities
where they live.
2. Improving affordable housing with the Choice Neighborhoods Initiative
Act, which would redevelop crumbling affordable housing and
surrounding communities.
3. Investing in women’s health with the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Uterine
Fibroids Research and Education Act and the Uterine Cancer Study Act,
which would invest in scientific research and medical training to
better treat women’s health issues.
4. Holding leaders accountable with the Ban Congressional Stock Trading
Act, which would ban lawmakers and immediate family members from
actively trading stocks while in office.
5. Caring for first responders with the Honoring Our Fallen Heroes Act,
which would ensure first responders who suffer service-related cancers
get the benefits they need.
6. Protecting domestic violence survivors with the Strengthening
Protections for Domestic Violence and Stalking Survivors Act, which
would ban stalkers and abusive dating partners from buying or owning
guns.
7. Supporting military families with the Improving Access to Prenatal
Care for Military Families Act which would guarantee access to
high-quality reproductive care.
8. Closing dangerous gun loopholes with the Background Check Completion
Act, which would close a legal loophole allowing gun purchases without
a background check.
9. Defending equality with the Refund Equality Act and Equal Dignity for
Married Taxpayers Act, which would ensure same-sex spouses can enjoy
the same tax benefits as opposite-sex couples.
10. Uplifting Black women with the Black Women's Equal Pay Day Resolution,
which brings much-needed attention to the wage disparities faced by
Black women in America.
Folks, these issues aren't necessarily the kind that grab
headlines, but they have an enormous impact on our communities. They
matter to Marylanders, so they matter to me.
