Dear NRDC Supporter,
When public lands and waters are threatened, the courts remain one of the most powerful tools we have to fight back.
As Chief Legal Counsel at NRDC, I've seen firsthand how smart, strategic litigation — supported by people like you — can block reckless polluter-backed policies, restore critical environmental protections, and safeguard places that should never have been put at risk in the first place. And now, our public lands are facing threats like never before.
Will you make a gift of just $5 today to help defend our public lands and environment in and out of court? Your gift will be matched 1-to-1 by Kate Adams, Duke Wiser, and their family.
The Trump administration's sweeping new reconciliation law is just one part of a broader assault on our public lands and waters. From fast-tracking drilling leases in the Arctic to weakening protections for national forests, they're working to hand over millions of acres to polluters.
All this to prioritize the wealth of industrial billionaires over our nation's communities, wildlife, and climate.
That's why NRDC's legal team is already taking action — and preparing for more.
With your support, we are working to:
- Protect a vital marine monument off the Atlantic coast. We're defending Northeast Canyons and Seamounts, the only marine national monument in the Atlantic, from efforts to reopen it to commercial fishing, which would harm deep-sea ecosystems and endangered species.
- Maintain protections for Bears Ears and Grand Staircase–Escalante. These iconic national monuments in Utah are still under threat. We're in court to ensure these sacred and ecologically critical lands remain protected from industrial development.
- Block attempts to open protected offshore waters to oil drilling. The Trump administration tried to undo safeguards for more than 600 million acres of protected oceans. We're fighting to keep those waters off-limits to drilling and safe for marine life and coastal communities.
This is what NRDC does best: smart, strategic litigation rooted in science, backed by decades of experience — and made possible by people like you.
By chipping in $5 today, you're helping to drive these legal fights and protecting our environment on all fronts.
At NRDC, we believe the law is one of our strongest tools to protect the lands we all share. From ancient forests to Arctic coastlines, we use it to defend places that are vital to our climate, our communities, and future generations.
This work isn't easy — it takes time, resources, and resolve — but with people like you by our side, it's powerful. And it's how we win.
Sincerely,
Michael Wall
