The news the last few weeks has been rough. The newest update from this week has been a Supreme Court ruling, allowing Trump to essentially gut the Department of Education, and the Department of Education withholding federal funding for bilingual education, adult literacy, and summer learning in states across the country.
There’s also been ongoing controversy with the so-called “Epstein files” and the disgusting (and not surprising) revelation a few nights ago that Trump had sent Epstein a “birthday letter”.
I know that when every news report is bad, it’s easy to feel defeated, it’s easy to feel unmotivated, and it’s easy to feel like nothing we do will change anything.
I want to remind you that we’ve done this before. When Trump was first elected, we had report after report of chaos, there was the neo-nazi march on Charlottesville, and Republicans were attempting to undo Obamacare.
But then 2018 happened. There was a Blue Wave across the country – because we worked for it. Democrats won in RECORD numbers in places like Florida, Kansas, and South Carolina. We even saw some major upsets here in California.
My point is, we’ve fought back extremism before, but that’s exactly what we have to do: FIGHT.
