John,

Last week the Supreme Court of the United States made two monumental decisions that directly affect millions of lives across the country, including many Emerge alums.

The Supreme Court has finally ruled that most people cannot be fired for their gender identity or sexual orientation. While we’re excited to see this landmark ruling, our alums across the country have also been working to protect the LGBTQ+ community. Just this month, Colorado alums Rep. Brianna Titone and Rep. Leslie Herod passed a bill that bans the use of gay or trans “panic” defense to justify violent assaults or murders of LGBTQ+ people.

Then, the justices shocked activists around the country by announcing that the Trump administration did not legally end the DACA program. This decision comes after years of hard work and dedication by activists like Astrid Silva, an Emerge alum who fought to ensure our nation lives up to its values.

John, knowing that we must continue the fight for a more just society and that expanding our recruitment and training across the country is how we build power and fight for justice, we’re asking you to make a donation today to support our work. [[link removed]]

While those two decisions were good news, we know these blows to the GOP’s agenda are not likely to quash their commitment to enacting discriminatory policies. We also cannot always count on the Supreme Court to do what is right, and we have so much further to go in these fights. That’s why we cannot let up with our mission.

How can you help? Make a contribution today to support Emerge as we continue to expand our program and pivot as necessary in the uncertain months ahead. [[link removed]]

This email was sent to [email protected]. Emerge is a national organization working to recruit, train, and get Democratic women elected across the country, and we are so grateful to have you on our team. Our alums are strong voices for Democratic values — and they are working to bring their values up and down the ballot to fight for working families. They are fighting for critical issues that affect our communities like the environment, accessible and affordable healthcare, social justice and education equity. We need more alums fighting for us across the country.

Email is the best way for us to keep you informed about what’s happening with our work. You may notice that we send a lot of emails asking for your support—that’s because we win when everyone does what they can to help. Our organization depends on thousands of actual people who care about our democracy and want to see positive change in our communities and across our country by building power through investing in Democratic women.
