Dear friend,
We invite you to join us on Thursday, September 18th at 12 pm (EDT) for a virtual event celebrating the launch of our Solidarity Philanthropy publication . In an intense moment of authoritarian consolidation of power across the world, we need resistance in all corners of the work. For donors, funders, and resource mobilizers, this resistance looks like deep partnership and relationship with social movements. This framework affirms that our collective liberation is bound up with one another across borders, and neither donors nor social movements alone can overcome the contradictions and challenges of our current moment of acute, overlapping crises.
Your presence will mean a lot to us. Our peers in philanthropy – donors, funders and organizers – and social movements representatives will share their views on how we can support the financial and political autonomy of social movements through the Solidarity Philanthropy framework. Participants will have firsthand access to our new publication that documents the lessons of movement accompaniment and international solidarity that Grassroots International and social movements have learned together over the last 40+ years.
We’ll be joined by:
* Sophie Dowllar, Coordinator of World March of Women [[link removed]] (WMW) (Kenya)
* Nury Martinez, La Via Campesina [[link removed]] (LVC) (Colombia)
* Nadine Nembhard, WFFP (Belize)
* Gabriela Linares Sosa, Union of Organizations of the Sierra Juarez of Oaxaca [[link removed]] (UNOSJO) (Mexico)
* With music by members of the Landless Workers Movement [[link removed]] (MST)
In Solidarity,
Grassroots International
