I especially want to thank everyone who voted in this election. This year's election was unlike any other, with new obstacles and new risks. So, thank you to all those who made their voices heard across the 11th District -- some of you did everything you could to stay home by voting absentee and some of you came out voted in person even with the risks, because all of us believe in the power and value of our democracy.

This is a difficult time for our country -- we're dealing with the pandemic, economic uncertainty, racial injustice, and a Donald Trump presidency. I have worked tirelessly to solve our nation's divides while also standing up to President Trump. So I take this electoral victory as a mandate -- a mandate to continue that fight against Donald Trump, to protect Northern Virginia, to help elect Democrats up and down the ballot around the nation, and to bring home more victories for our community and our progressive values.

After our decisive win last night, that work continues today with renewed resolve.
